Secret Spoon

Rewind. 2005. The Parish, Austin, TX. A first attempt at concert photography with a band that consistently dropped sonic milestones throughout my adulthood. Somehow I kept my shit together and strung together a few images I was proud of, and that was the fire that lit my photographic career.

Since their inception, Spoon has consistently done the hard creative work, album after album with a remarkable consistency that inspires anyone seeking to take the long road. Last night, in advance of their forthcoming March release, the band debuted four new songs alongside their standards at a secret show hosted by Austin’s resurrected shrine to the blues, Antone’s.

The new material pulsed with a hypnotic, slow driving buzz that was both fresh and familiar. It seems like with each release the band stretches in new directions but leaves enough breadcrumbs to lead us back to familiar territory. Feeling a new tune on first listen in a live club is a pretty good indicator of how things are going to go and based on last night, Spoon fans are in for a new feel-good drug come March.

  2. Hi,
I’m a fan of your work. Are you using VSCO presets as base of your work? If yes, may I know what presets are these, especially BW photos? Thanks a lot!

    1. Couldn’t say exactly. Yes, they start as VSCO but they have been tweaked, customized and renamed in my workflow.

      1. Thanks for the reply. Do you have any advise in doing BW? When I’m doing BW based on VSCO, I ended up to an overprocessed look.
